The Robin Hood Inn is located in the village of Clifton Reynes, just ten miles from Central Milton Keynes and a few minutes drive and a stunning 15 minute walk from the thriving old market town of Olney. Its idyllic location in the heart of the village makes it the hub of the community and a destination for many. Full of history and stories, the original pub dates back to 1577.
In October 2017, the pub was purchased by the village to safeguard the future of this greatly respected community asset. Not only was there huge local enthusiasm in making the purchase but we are indebted to Dentons, one of the top global law firms who kindly donated their legal services to the venture.
The first activity was to refurbish the outside and this was completed with the installation of replacement windows and new external decorations. We even managed to clean off the old moss, exposing the old clay and concrete roof tiles. The old small and unwelcoming fireplace was removed and replaced by a cosy warm wood burner, interior areas have had a spruce up and we feel it has the feel of a traditional local pub.
We also totally re-laid the outside patio making a huge sun trap, created a large garden with a play area and have an outside bar.
Since 2017 the pub has been run by a series on Managers and Tenants. In May 2024 when the tenants decided to leave we moved back to managing the pub ourselves to keep it open. We took the liberty of asking Kath if she would be interested in becoming our manager. Although she had run her own pub, the Royal Oak at Cogenhoe, for ten years and was very keen to retire, she said that as the Robin Hood was her favourite pub in the world she would join us. As many of you may know, Kath was the chef here when Reg ran the pub all those years ago. So, we are incredibly fortunate to have Kath back!!!
Kath has been brilliant re-establishing the Robin Hood as a village pub as the pub that everyone loves, attracting customers from further afield to enjoy the great food and events. She is a fantastic chef offering traditional home cooked pub food, has built a great team to look after all our customers and what’s more a lovely person too!
